STACKIT BECOMES THE FIRST APPROVED SOVEREIGN SERVICE PROVIDER

  • First Approved Partner: STACKIT is the first Approved Sovereign Service Provider in ZenDiS’s new openDesk partner program.
  • End-to-End Processes: The collaboration with d.velop combines sovereign cloud infrastructure with digital delivery via d.velop postbox.
  • Germany Stack as a Model: This collaboration demonstrates how open standards, interoperability, and European data sovereignty work in public administration.

STACKIT expands its role as a reliable partner for public administration: As the first Approved Sovereign Service Provider in the openDesk partner program of the Center for Digital Sovereignty (ZenDiS), STACKIT provides the foundation for digital administrative services through Schwarz Digits’ European cloud. Through the parallel partnership with d.velop, the gap between internally digitized records and secure citizen communication is bridged. This collaboration exemplifies how sovereign cloud infrastructure and specialized applications seamlessly integrate within an open ecosystem.

Modern public administrations face the challenge of implementing strict compliance standards, NIS 2 requirements, and digital sovereignty without vendor lock-in. End-to-end digitization often fails due to media breaks on the “last mile,” when official notices are printed and sent by mail despite having been processed digitally. STACKIT resolves this conflict of objectives: Based on a BSI C5-certified infrastructure, public sector clients gain comprehensive control over their data and processes—reliably under European jurisdiction.

“To significantly advance digital sovereignty, the public sector and the free market must combine their strengths. Our goal is to create the technological foundation for this collaboration and, together with strong partners from the software sector, to provide sovereign solutions for public administration in Germany and Europe,” explains Bernie Wagner, Chief Revenue Officer at Schwarz Digits.

“Digital sovereignty does not arise from a single product. It requires a robust ecosystem in which various stakeholders contribute their expertise. This is precisely where ZenDiS’s new partner program comes in. Together with the market, we’re ensuring that openDesk can scale widely,” adds Pamela Krosta-Hartl, Managing Director of ZenDiS.

Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure Meets Seamless Document Delivery

The ZenDiS openDesk partner program imposes strict requirements on the operational security and independence of cloud operators. By demonstrating BSI C5 certification, STACKIT guarantees the highest security standards for hosting the open-source office and collaboration suite openDesk. The integration with d.velop postbox demonstrates how this cloud foundation creates tangible benefits: government offices and agencies can now transmit legally compliant documents directly from their digital files to citizens’ personal mailboxes.

“From the digital file to the digital mailbox, administrative processes must be designed as an end-to-end system. A process isn’t truly digital if it ultimately results in more paper. With STACKIT, we’re expanding our ecosystem to include a trusted cloud provider and laying the groundwork not only for processing documents digitally but also for delivering them securely and conveniently to citizens,” says Philipp Perplies, Chief Operating Officer for the Public Sector at d.velop.
