The Bildungscampus Heilbronn - a unique educational landscape
Although the foundation stone for the education campus in Heilbronn was only laid in 2010, the campus is already home to more than ten different educational and scientific institutions.
Elementary school, traditional universities and institutions for vocational training and further education can be found here, as well as renowned research institutes, innovative start-ups and new teaching concepts. With a total of over 8,500 pupils, students and employees, the campus offers a unique educational landscape in one place and an inherently innovative environment that is characterized by development and change.
This makes it all the more important to develop future-proof and sustainable solutions for central service areas. For the campus, this means creating added value that makes life on campus more convenient, more flexible and easier so that the institutions can concentrate on their core activities - teaching, learning and research - in the best possible way. The success of the digital transformation plays a central role in this.
Linking a complex system with multi-layered identity scenarios
A new identity management system, which also serves as a technical service platform, ensures less administration and more convenience in the connection and provision of central services and applications.
The challenge
Each institution has its own identity management system (IDM). The task here was to create a bridge between the external and internal systems. From a service perspective, the focus was on providing centralized services for the campus that are available across the board and campus-wide. The frequent coming, going or changing of people within short time intervals had to be taken into account easily and at all times in the role and rights management. The Bildungscampus was looking for a comprehensive and innovative overall solution that was secure, flexible and easy to use for all technical and non-technical user groups.
The solution
STACKIT was commissioned by the Bildungscampus to integrate an identity management system that meets the high requirements - and can be easily expanded in the future. The perfect solution was found in cidaas. Together, STACKIT designed and developed a service platform that was tailored to the Bildungscampus: flexible, secure, highly available and easy to manage.
